Utstillingen er utviklet etter research i militære områder over hele Nord-Norge. Utstillingen ser på infrastrukturen til dagens krigføring som koreografiske systemer, og utforsker konstruksjonen av grenser som en politisk scene for utførelse av kontroll og dominans. Utstillingen synliggjør hvordan krigføringssystemer er sammenvevd med sivil infrastruktur. Gjennom skulpturelle og performative uttrykk hackes det strenge og autoritære, slik at de dynamiske og kroppslige sidene ved disse materialene kommer i forgrunnen.
I videoinstallasjonen følger vi fire dansere som opptrer nær militariserte grenseområder på Andøya og Kirkenes. De utfører en serie handlinger og gester hentet fra feltmanualer av den amerikanske hæren, samt spill fra Theatre of the Oppressed, en motstandsorientert fremføringsteknikk som dukket opp under det brasilianske militærdiktaturet på 70-tallet. Filmen blander og vrir på disse to radikalt forskjellige teknikkene, mens den ene øver på krigføring, fungerer den andre for konfliktløsning gjennom kroppen.
Bianca Hisse (f. 1994 i São Paulo) er en brasiliansk kunstner bosatt i Norge. Hun har studert kunst ved Kunstakademiet i Tromsø (2019) og scenekunst ved Pontificia Universidade Catolica de São Paulo (2016). Hun har blitt vist på Kunstnernes Hus, Tromsø Kunstforening, Kiasma (Finland), Kunsthalle Recklinghausen (Tyskland), MAR Museo – Bienal Sur (Argentina), og Mediterranea Biennale 19 (San Marino).
The Performance «Ashes to Ashes»

Ashes to Ashes unfolds slowly, examining the history and materiality of coal as a generator for movement and voice. In search for a material-bound, two women navigates emotional estrangement of longing, contempt, fear, and self-fulfilment, performing dissociative acts that reflects the biopolitical realities of climate breakdown. Suspended and unfolding in an eternal collapse, they channel extractive sounds of drilling and harrowing vibrations, in a quest to touch and be touched by each other and the environment they are located in.
When thinking of coal as a resource or a commodity, touch can be seen as an extractivist practice. Rather, Ashes to Ashes aims at accessing it as an agent that in-forms and maintains an open path of relating.
Georgiana Dobre (b. 1989) is a Romanian dancer, performer and choreographer who lives and works in Norway. She holds a master’s degree in choreography from the Oslo Academy of the Arts and a bachelor in dance practices and choreography from the National University of Theatre and Film in Bucharest (RO). Entrenched in speculative somatic practices, her work explores ideas connected to the naturalisation of the body and it’s forms of escapism in relationship to histories of violence and environmental destruction. Georgiana has shown recently her work at Suprainfinit Gallery in Bucharest (RO) Knipsu Gallery in Bergen (NO),Bruksrommet in Stavanger (NO), Høstutstillingen in Norway (NO), The National Dance Centre in Bucharest (RO), MNAC – Museum of Contemporary Art in Bucharest (RO) and Kunsthalle Bega in Timisoara (RO).
COLLABORATION WITH BIANCA HISSE:
Bianca Hisse’s sculptural objects use copper as a material to highlight the infrastructures of warfare as rigid choreographic systems and spaces for control and dominance. The work’s cultural and performative expression is intended to hack the authoritarian aspects of these spaces so that the dynamic and bodily aspects of materials and elements come into view. My work coincides with Hisse’s through our shared interest in investigating the infrastructures of power via the body and through our interest in how various minerals are extracted and used to build structures of control and destruction.
